Why Im Ok With Being Average

Posted: April 26, 2012 in Uncategorized

Can I start off by saying I love each and every single one of you for your love, encouragement and support through my prep/show/crazy, you have absolutely no idea how much that means to me.

I truly think the blogging and online community is awesome in so many ways…. but not so awesome in other ways.

The past few weeks I’ve been way behind on my blog commenting, but I’ve still been reading as much as possible on my phone. Today on my lunch break I flipped to my google reader and read through a few blogs and came across one of my fave bloggers Sable’s post for today about a comment she received on her progress photos.

Her post really spoke to me and it’s something I’ve thought about a lot. So many blogs I read all all roses and sunshine and then I look at half the posts I write and well… they’re anything but.

Losing weight sucks sometimes.

Getting sick eating icecream really sucks.

Working your ass off to get a great shift…. only to be told due to seniority you now are being volun-told you get a new shift working weekends.

… and don’t even get me started on dating.

mar 12 019 I think the reasons I’m drawn to blogs like Sable’s are because they are so real.

There is nothing fake, sugar coated or scripted about them. Which is exactly what I strive to make my blog because I don’t want anyone to think I automatically quit binge eating “just because” or I woke up one day and loved veggies and thought cookies were gross (… they’re not) or that I was “born tiny”. That couldn’t be any further from the truth.

It’s been a long… very long… road to get to where I am.

The biggest change comes from simply accepting who I am now.

I still struggle with the food demons… sometimes who I used to be still wins out and I find myself sitting down with a bowl of frozen yogurt… and then clutching my stomach in pain.

I still hate cardio and could think of 875667476568 things I’d rather be doing that the stepmill on a Saturday morning… you know.. like getting a tooth pulled with no drugs.

I love training now more than ever.

I love the routine of my meals and the way prep drives me to better myself every single day.

I love how I’m doing all of what I used to do…. now surrounded by family, friends and a great team.

So just like Sable I’m choosing to fully embrace being average. When I have a great day you certainly will hear all about it and I’ll toot my own horn when I hit my 225lb deadlift and step on stage an even better version of Becca in November…. but guess what? You’re going to hear about the bad stuff too.

There’s going to be off days, bumps, bruises and boys who call me chubby but embracing the good, the bad and the completely average is what makes me, and everyone else who owns up to being real, anything but average.

  1. I love this. You are seriously awesome. You work your ass off not if ands and buts.

  2. This is why I LOVE your blog so much!!! I am so sick of roses and perfection and “there’s nothing in the world I’d rather eat right now than steamed broccoli!” It’s not true and acting like it is doesn’t do anyone any favors.

    YOU are freaking awesome.
